Skeptical Farrier Changes his Mind About Composite Horseshoes

Dear Hoof-it Team,

I'm writing you in regards to our phone conversation this morning about the Marathon horseshoes. First of all, let me tell you a little about myself.

I've been a practicing Farrier since 1988. I took and passed my certification test with the American Farriers Association in 1990. I shoe a wide variety of horses, from Draft to Performance and everything in between.

I also do pathological and therapeutic shoeing for a couple of vets in the area.

Getting back to the Marathons, I have a client that saw them at Equitana and purchased a pair for me to put on her horse. He's a Tennessee Walker with low angled, under slung heels, and very flat soles.

Needless to say I applied the shoes with reluctance. After the first six weeks, I was surprised to find how much change the feet had gone through.

They had become symmetrically round and the sole was starting to concave. I reset the shoes for the second time yesterday, and found an almost perfect textbook foot.

I wish I had thought of them! I will be putting them on my own horses as well as other clients horses now too.
